Fuck that, how about mice in the drawer!
Ok, let me explain something. I love dogs, I’m ok with cats, I have a wonderful parrot named Madison who lives at my parents place in Westchester. But no, I hate little mice. Especially when you wake up at 1am on a Thursday night to a scratching noise and have one pop out of a drawer at you. Apparently the little bastard got stuck in there and just loved the butter microwavable popcorn. Oh, and nips. He liked those chocolaty nips. So yes, after waking up at 1am at M’s place and discovery a mouse and shrieking like a littler girl waking up M in the process, we went out to CVS, bought traps, cleaned the drawer and the floor and got back to sleep. Great, now every time I hear a noise I’m going to think it’s that little bastard. Oh well.
So, on Thursday night I broke Passover (yes, Alan, I became Jewish this year and kind of celebrated) with M at Carmines up on the upper west side. Big portions check! Great tasting…not so check. Yeah, it didn’t impress us. The shrimp parm was so so and the cold antipasto (though pretty) was just eh. So yea, no more Carmines. I think we’ll stick with Tony’s by Times Square. Same large portions only it tastes all that much better.
On Friday we ended up going for Vietnamese to our wonderful Vietnamese place Saigon Grill. I think we’ve overdone the times you can go there, as this time around, well, the food just didn’t seem as special. I think it has come to the point where cooking at home is more preferable than going out. Not for the sake of cost (it IS cheaper though) but the fact that cooking seems to just taste better.
After dinner we made it down to Penn Station via the slowest bus from hell. The one the goes down Broadway along the west side. Oh my fucking god was it slow. We could walk faster. It stops at EVERY god-dammed stop. 15 senior citizens, a guy in a wheel chair and these clueless girls who got on the wrong bus and had to get off the next stop. Holy shit I hate buses. At Penn she met up with her college friend Kathryn and at that point I went home as it was late.
So, this weekend I went up to Westchester to visit the folks and get a bite at Outback. On Sunday night however, I met up with M and Kathryn for dinner at this India place near me in the slope. Continuing the trend that I need to start cooking, the meal was so so. After dinner M’s friend Matt came over and we all went out for a nice few games of air hockey. Turns out I’m half decent at the game and kicked ass.
And that was my weekend.
On an interesting side note, my younger sister apparently is moving in with me this summer. Not my room, but the other one when Jeff takes off for Law school. So, for good or for bad, it will be interesting to see where this goes.
