Adventures of a young doodle

MoCCA, co-workers, Comic-con, smoking and Queens. ·

What do all these have in common? Nothing. Just that it’s been a crazy busy last few days.

Thursday night involved a meeting of myself, Alan, Ken and Matt to discuss the future of the new MoCCA NY web presence. We accomplished quite a bit and I have now started drafting specs for the new site. It will Be one of my more technically developed sites. hopefully the contents will be equally impressive.

Friday night, while debating at work at 5pm whether or not see a movie, I was invited by several coworkers to a bar crawl/dinner. It was quite a lot of fun and gave me the wonderful opportunity to learn about who I work with and how they got there. Actually, it really felt like a bonding experience.

Saturday was a fairly full day in that I met with Sharon, had a wonderful Vietnamese deli lunch, perused the Young Designers Market with her and Carly and then made it over to buy comics at the Big Apple Comic-Con. I must confess though, or rather scream, WTF is up with $15 admission price? God damned over-glorified flea-markets should not cost this much! In fact, between the obvious lack of good graphic novel dealers (none of the usuals were there) and the price, they have now completely lost me as a future customer. I’ve been faithful for 12 years.

It’s not worth the admission anymore. Too expensive and too focused on celebrities long past their time. I mean come on, chewbacca? The female lead in Saturday night fever? A few porn stars and ex-wrestlers? What happened to just comics? Oh well.

Thankfully my Saturday night was saved and Sharon, M and myself went to BAM to see Thank You For Smoking. I highly recommend this movie. It’s snarky, funny, witty, and just plain fun.

Today, M and I ventured to Queens (Astoria, Jackson Heights, Woodside) for our own little noshwalk. Basically we walked for 5 hours and ate a million random things. A gyro, wings, Greek pastries, cheeses, Greek coffee’s, real fruit drink and spicy ass soup. It was great, though I did get a bit of color. It was a great day for a walk but next time I’m bringing my sun glasses.
